Canadian UAV Fines & Enforcement

The lack of enforcement of existing UAV regulations by Transport Canada has been a fairly often discussed topic.  With limited manpower and trying to gather proof after the fact makes it a difficult task at the best of times.

However a recent review of the Aviation Enforcement Publications shows there have been some cases over the past year to date:

Another interesting point is the long lead time between the incident date and when it was finally posted as a fine/violation.  Investigations can take some time so immediate inaction doesn’t always mean no action.

End of the day Transport Canada is doing what they can for the worst violations.  The industry needs to work together as well to grow a professional industry where those wanting to participate work within the system. Client education around the regulations and potential liability issues will go a long way in helping.
